2 EFCC staff jailed for corruption

Two staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) were yesterday sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Abuja High Court for corruption.

Douglas Williams and Police Sergeant Abba Ishaku were charged for demanding and receiving bribe of N50, 000 from Alhaji Kachala former Chairman of Bama Local Government Area of Borno State through his brother Lawal Mainassara on July 19.

Williams and Ishaku, who were working as Front Desk Officers in the EFCC Abuja headquarters, were said to have demanded the sum to destroy a petition that could warrant investigation against Kachala.
