Posted by Daniela in Home » Lifestyle on September 21, 2012

For those of us who like to patronize roadside sellers of meat  otherwise called suya, here is a reason to think twice – that  meat you are buying might not only be unwholesome, it could be  a Vulture’s. Personally, I once had an experience where Donkey  meat was sold to me and a couple of friends as cow meat; good  enough, we were able to discern from the taste, texture and color  of the meat. But what happens when you cannot tell the  difference?

Vigilant residents of the garden city have apprehended a young man in the act of trapping vultures with local stimulant (snuff) in Onne, Port Harcourt. While confessing of his crime, the man who is from the north eastern part of the country said he wanted to use them as roasted chicken for his suya business. He also claimed that he has been in this roasted vulture and suya business in Port Harcourt for a long time.

To be honest, most women have done this: sought reassurance from our husband or partner about an outfit we love. She who has never, should cast the first stone. So many times the women in our lives (wife, mother, girlfriend or lover) ask us how they look in a particular dress and we almost (i.e men) want to burst out laughing but we put up a straight face and respond, ‘Oh! it looks lovely’ when we actually mean, ‘Oh! did you just come out from the middle ages?’However, it has now been revealed that chances are the men lie to keep the women happy. A recent survey found one in four men regularly don’t like what their partner’s wearing — but half of them are too afraid to tell the truth in case sparks fly.

Is this true? We would like to know from the men folk – would you mind telling the truth about how your woman looks in that dress or you’ll just lie to make her happy? And for the womenfolk, how will you feel if after asking your man to compliment your dress, he straight away disapproves of it?This Woman Loves This Dress But Her Husband Thinks It Is Unflattering!!!

John Mikel Obi says he was riled by abuse on Twitter following his Champion’s League error on Wednesday [Sep 19], but denies it prompted him to quit the social networking site.

The Nigerian turned over possession with a loose pass, allowing Juventus to level scores at 2-2, and cost Chelsea a point. He immediately became the target of vile, even racist abuse on Twitter and deleted his @Mikel12Official account soon after.

But in an exclusive conversation with KickOffNigeria.com, Mikel made it clear it wasn’t about the abuse. “Not really. It wasn’t about that. I just closed it because I’m not really into it (Twitter). I really did not like being on it”, Mikel said.“I have always wanted to stop ever since I started. I’m a very private person. Social network is not my thing; I’m not good at it.”The Nigerian also admitted culpability for the goal, but says it’s time to move on…”We all make mistakes in life. I feel terrible about it, but it’s not good to dwell on it”.“We have other games coming up and we have to learn from our mistakes focus on the coming games”

Former governor of Abia State, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, who was recently quoted to have said ‘unless an Igbo man rules this Nigeria, this country would not be better,’ is in the news again. The businessman/politician was a guest speaker at the Professor David Ijalaiye annual lecture series organized by the Equity Chambers of the Faculty of Law, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile Ife.Having delivered his lecture titled: “Leadership: Key factor to a better Nigeria”, Orji Uzor Kalu maintained that the southeast would not compromise its stands in 2015 general elections. In his words, “In 2015, what will happen is that the Igbo will vote for the Igbo, Yoruba for Yoruba and Hausa vote for Hausa. Then, we will all come to Abuja to discuss and determine who should be Nigerian President… Anybody who thinks that there is going to be a straight ballot thing to produce the President in 2015 is only fooling himself.”

Noting that his absence from politics would not stop him from campaigning against injustices, he recalled in his lecture that since 1967 when the military came into governance in the country, Nigeria is yet to produce a credible leader who would take the nation to its dreamland.
