Nigerians should put religious differences aside and embrace peace – Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, has urged Nigerians to put the unity of the country first in their endeavors, setting aside their religious differences and living together in peace. The sultan made this clear when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State at Governor’s Lodge, Uyo. The sultan had been attending the third Unity Conference of the South-South and South-East Muslim UMMAH in Uyo and he stressed that unity and peace are panacea for the development of the country.According to him, “The conference is an important one. Whether we are Christians or Muslims, we must live in peace with one another in whatever part of the country we find ourselves. If we are united, we would contribute better to the development of the country. So, we must put aside our differences and embrace peace and unity.’’

As a spiritual head of Muslims in the country, it is hoped that the Sultan of Sokoto can help restore peace to the troubled parts of the country, especially the North, using his highly respected position. Meanwhile, it seems that the government is making considerable progress in their fight against the dreaded Boko Haram sect, the group behind most of the crises rocking the northern parts of the country.

“I will cut off my dreadlocks if Arsenal wins the English Premiership” – Victor Ikpeba

Ex Nigerian international, Victor Ikpeba, has said that he will cut off his dreadlocks if Arsenal Football Club wins the English Premiership in the 2012/2013 season. The retired footballer who is presently one of the soccer analysts on SuperSports TV made the statement shortly after the fixture between Manchester City and Arsenal on Sunday.

Back in the day Victor Ikpeba was one of the few Nigerian internationals who had very brilliant careers in Europe. The footballer, however, is most remembered by Nigerians for his penalty kick against Cameroon in the 2000 Nations Cup final.

The famous penalty kick had hit the crossbar, bounced off it, and landed behind the line, which makes it a goal. However, Tunisian Referee, Mourad Daami, had not given the goal. Ikpeba too had not helped the situation as he had put his hands on his head conceding the loss of the penalty. The decision by the referee had more or less cost Nigeria the cup.

Meanwhile, the Gunners had indeed put up a good performance on Sunday to hold the English Premiership title holder to a 1-1 draw. As a retired footballer, it is expected that Ikpeba should know that it could be too early predict who would win the English Premiership. He might have been joking about it though, however it might be a good thing to see what the ex footballer looks like again without the dreads!

RELATIONSHIPS: 10 Good Questions To Ask When Getting To Know Someone

Here is a list of those important things you should know when getting to know someone, you might not get to ask them directly, but still find a way to know all the answers to the 10 points listed below:

1. Are you married / or do have a girlfriend/boyfriend?

Any studdering, hesitation or giggling is a MAJOR red flag. “Are you single” is a very simple question that should have a very simple answer… i remember this man was trying to approach me, i asked him if he was single… first he giggled (nervous laughter) then he said “why you ask me that”? then he said “yes i’m single”, then he says “i have friends”, translation… “no i’m not single, i have a girl but i’m also a dog”. SMH!!! If a man/woman is single he/she will answer that question with a simple “YES” (with no pause), anything other than that is suspect.

2. What are his/her morals & values?

This one should be HIGH on everyone’s list. If your morals & values are not in alignment with each other, that could be a big problem.

3. How does he/she speak to you?

I have learned that there is something to be said about a man/woman who constantly speaks with a foul mouth around a person they just started dating. It shows a lack of respect. I’m not saying a man/woman can’t ever curse… of course that’s not the case, but if he/she’s saying things to you like “wassup my nigga” or “wassup bitch” or Muthaf*cka this Muthaf*cka that”… he/she is not respecting you.

4. What is he saying about his / her ex? Is he speaking negative about them?

It’s normal to some degree for a person to say certain things about their EX, however if the person you are interested in is ranting with anger and talking very negative about the person whom they were once in love with… that’s a sign they still have issues regarding that situation, and just like they talk bad about that EX, they will talk bad about you.

5. Does he/she want marriage and children?

If you are early 20′s you don’t have to rush these type of questions, but if you are in your 30′s or 40′s you NEED to ask the tough questions early so you are not wasting your time with someone who doesn’t want the same things in life that you want or maybe they want it and you don’t… either way, marriage and children need to be discussed at some point, especially if that’s something you have your heart set on.

6. Do they have anger issues or a quick temper?

I once was out with a guy who screamed at the top of his lungs at someone for getting his order wrong…. being annoyed would be normal, but to SCREAM bloody Mary in a public place is insane… needless to say that was one red flag that i should’ve took heed to. pay attention to Public behavior and quick temper signs, if they act psycho in public, what do you think they will be like behind closed doors?

7. What are their goals?

This is a good question to ask to see if he/she may have a good head on his/her shoulders. I met a man who lived at home with his mom, yet he spent several thousand dollars buying a new gold chain when he should’ve been getting his own place (SMH)! needless to say that was a major turnoff to me and a huge red flag that his priorities & goals were not in sync with mines.

8. Do they have kids, how many? how many mothers/fathers?

If meet a man with 5 kids and 4 or 5 different mothers. Realistically speaking, if a man is spending time & money with his kids like he’s suppose to, how is it possible for him to have time or the finances to date or start a family with someone new? besides that, it could be a red flag that he has commitment issues if he hasn’t settled down with none of the mother of his kids. I don’t like to judge but… No Thanks!!

9. What type of people do they hang around?

They say you are a reflection of the people you choose to hang around. If the man/woman you are interested in is hanging around with people who have no morals and bad character, you need to pay attention to that.

10. How do they treat their Mother/Father?

In most cases, If a person speaks to their Mom/Dad in a disrespectful manner… that’s a sign that they will probably speak to you the same way eventually.

Samsung plans to add iPhone 5 to existing patent suits against Apple

Samsung and Apple had been fighting patent suits in court for a very long time now with no sign of suits ending. With the launch of the iPhone 5, Samsung Electronics has announced this week that it plans to add Apple’s newest smartphone to its existing patent lawsuits against the company.

If Samsung happened to win an injunction against Apple in the patent suits, sales of the iPhone 5 could be blocked, but that seems unlikely. Apple had pre-order sales of over 2 million units in the first 24 hours of availability and will hit store shelves this Friday.”Samsung anticipates that it will file, in the near future, a motion to amend its infringement contentions to add the iPhone 5 as an accused product,” it said in a U.S. court filing.”Based on information currently available, Samsung expects that the iPhone 5 will infringe the asserted Samsung patents-in-suit in the same way as the other accused iPhone models.”

Samsung issued a statement today that added, “Apple continues to take aggressive legal measures that will limit market competition. Under these circumstances, we have little choice but to take the steps necessary to protect our innovations and intellectual property rights.”The escalating legal battle comes after Apple scored a win in August when a U.S. jury found that Samsung had copied certain critical features of the Apple iPhone. Damages awarded Apple in that case amounted to $1.05 billion. The jury in that case also found that Apple had not infringed on any of Samsung’s patents. Naturally, Samsung said it would appeal the ruling. However, Apple recently asked the court to triple the award against Samsung to $3 billion.

Sex Life:Facebook Breaks Two-years Old Relationship

Love they say is the most beautiful thing in the world, and the best thing that can happen to anyone. No one thinks about what heartbreaks that usually result from love causes. They say heartbreaks can’t kill, but I believe heartaches can. Social media has fostered relationships greatly, but it has also broken up a lot.

Tunde(real name withheld) graduated from University of Ilorin in 2011. While in school, he was dating a fellow student and their relationship was the envy of friends. According to Tunde, she was everything to him, at least until she cheated on him after he had graduated while she still had a year left in her study. He sadly relates the story of how a girl he claimed would have donated a kidney to if she needed one cheated on him.

“Sometimes it’s better to live in a lie than to know the true state of things. Reality can be damning. I was lying on the rug, browsing through my blackberry when suddenly I got tired of using the facebook application. I decided to check out my facebook account on the site itself. Surprisingly, I noticed my girl-friend’s activities barely an hour ago on facebook. I was mad because she had the time for that but she didn’t have the time to call me despite seeing a text I sent earlier. I decided to check her facebook account since I had the password. I don’t stalk her, but checking her facebook updates for her used to be my duty. She wouldn’t check.

Minutes later, I was shivering, my throat went dry, and the sleep gradually brewing up in my eyes cleared off. Don’t ask me what I saw. But, of course you know. I could have vouched for her any day, I could have spared a kidney if she needed one, I could have given my all. Unfortunately, she’s just like the others.Just so you’d know, I saw a chat history that confirmed my suspicions of her infidelity. I confronted her and she flared up, but didn’t deny. In fact, she said it was over. We were together two years and she never cheated until then; well, so I thought. I will never fall in love again! Quote me.”

Social media again, uh? I guess we just need to take charge of our relationships and stop allowing social media affect our relationships. For Tunde though, social media helped him to catch a cheating girlfriend, but we have heard stories in the past of how social media led to a girl’s death. Be wise.
